London Fashion Week 2011
This year’s London Fashion Week has been even more eventful than usual. As well as some stunning, original catwalk shows, there has been an spectacular, unusually bitchy spat between the organisers of London Fashion Week and the fashion houses behind the Milan Fashion Show. The world of haute couture is renowned for its fights, bitchiness and all-round cattishness, but this year the spat threatens to spread into the legal world.

With more and more important fashion events crammed into a full calendar, it was inevitable that a full blown clash would occur. This year the fight emerged into the open, as London Fashion Week organisers accused their counterparts in the Milan Fashion Show of deliberately highjacking top models.
The problem is that the two events happen so close together that the Milan designers called upon their models to come for fittings and practices even while London Fashion Week was still going ahead.
‘A deliberate foul,'cried London Fashion Week stylists who lost the world’s top models for the last few days of the show.
‘Can’t be helped,'shouted back the Milan fashion houses who claimed their models for the clashing days.
Comparing the London Fashion Week to the Milan Fashion Show is like comparing office furniture London to office furniture Milan
Comparing the London Fashion Week to the Milan Fashion Show is like comparing office furniture London to office furniture Milan, or carpet flooring London to carpet flooring Milan. The two are similar in basic ways, and totally different in all the areas that really count: the style, the art, the fashion.
Celebrities such as Madonna, Kate Moss, Sadie Frost, Kate Winslet and Davina McColl love to attend events at these fashionable shows, and the different European venues vie with each other to attract the biggest names. But in the end, just as on the high street, it all comes down to the style. And who wins out? I wouldn’t dare choose for fear of the London or Milan fans.
